Moonlit mornings, frosty starts and laddered tights are what can spring to mind when it comes to the winter months. The summer still feels like forever away, while the satisfying season of mulled wine and mince pies seems like a distant memory. We're officially mid-season, meaning we're at that awkward stage of the year where we don't know whether to brave the winds in a sleek shirt dress or hibernate until March in our favourite Uggs and skinny's combo.

Everyone was making the most of it - showing up to the office in sleek camisoles and slender sundresses - as we new it would only be a matter of days until the leaves started hitting the ground.

Fast forward two weeks and there's finally that soothing Autumn chill swirling through the air. The trees are starting to shed and the nights are drawing in closer - giving us the perfect opportunity to dig out our favourite Autumn essentials.

Fuchsia Fusion

Nothing says feminine quite like a pink dress; decorate said dress with matching pink jewels and a flowered pattern and you've got yourself a look so girlie you could join The Saturdays. Don't be scared to rock a ladylike ensemble - pretty pinks and pastel palettes have been spotted all over the S/S and A/W14 catwalks so it's a trend that's here to stay. If baby pink is a little too soft for your style and causes too many 90's Baby Spice flashbacks - inject some fuchsia into your wardrobe. This Miss Selfridge dress is the perfect way to wear the trend if the the thought of walking around head to toe in pink brings you out in a sweat. The darker shade means you can look womanly but will still be taken seriously at work or in the class room. Dressing between seasons can be tricky. The sun is beginning to peep out from behind the clouds but that chill in the air means it's still too cold for bare legs and mini shirts. Ditch the denim and dig out your old maxi skirt. The floor skimming garment had a massive fashion moment a couple seasons ago but has since slipped under the radar. The longer length skirt is perfect for keeping your legs warm without having to encase yourself in tight fitting jeans and leggings. Dazzle in Denim

B*Witched might not be doing the Big Reunion any more, but that doesn't mean we can't still take some style inspiration from their 90s wardrobes. Double denim is as hot as ever; whether your chilling out in jeans or teaming your shirt with a chic skater skirt - denim on denim is a killer combo. Shirts made out of the much loved material are a great way to keep you hot under the collar this season. The loose fit makes for a relaxed look and hides that burger belly you've been harbouring since lunch time. Team yours with a statement necklace to keep it interesting and keep the rest simple. If your not feeling nostalgic for lashings of denim; rock your shirt with some disco pants. The shiny trouser still makes a statement without the risk of looking like an extra in a Levis advert. How ever you decide to work yours - make sure you top off your look with a pair of black ankle boots.

Stud and Deliver

Monochrome has always had the magic touch when it comes to keeping stylish. The minimal colour scheme keeps you looking cool without much effort. Season after season, models are seen sauntering down the runways wearing the basic colour combo. Black is sinfully slimming and a touch of white adds that extra pizazz to any outfit. This Winter, take a nod to the nineties and sport a neck skimming vest top. Add lashings of silver studs and chains and top the look of with some old school creepers. The 90s trainer is unbelievably comfortable; the thick sole not only cushions your step - it gives your legs a sneaky lift without even a hint of a  heel. A touch of glamour can easily be incorporated to the look by draping a blazer over your shoulders (N.B. the wind may keep blowing it off so no one will judge if you decide to actually wear the jacket).

Do It Like A Dude

Flicking through the latest issue off any fashion weekly, you will see a cluster of fabulous dresses draped over stunning females. Cheyl, Tulisa and Rhianna all have a closet full of the latest edgy catwalk creations but its time for them to take of their fashion crown and hand it over to our new style crush: Labrinth.

The 23 year old London singer might be a male, but with get ups like these it would be a crime again fashion ignore his efforts. The talented star has already been recognised for his style and featured in GQs 100 best dressed list at 41. Lab is a serial colour blocker and is frequently seen rocking fashion forward bright trousers with clashing shirts. In a recent photo shoot, the singer wore a canary yellow shirt with a pair of  bold green jeans! House of Fraser have a feminine version of his shirt with capped sleeves. 

Earlier this year, at Wireless festival, Lab wore a denim shirt with a leopard print  pocket and cuffs. The clashing material and pattern caught our eye - and heart! To copy his style, Rokit have produced a similar design for only £25! The long sleeves and high collar means it will be cosy in the winter as well as eye catching! Who said winter fashion had to be dark and boring?

To truly evoke Labs style and make him proud - add a bow tie to your shirt. And of course a pair of his signature thick rimmed specs!

Contrasting collars will be everywhere this winter! The summer months seen us adding intricate details to our shirt collars. Metal tips and pearl details were everywhere. The A/ W catwalks have tweaked this trend slightly and ditched the sweet and delicate collars and relapsed them with bright, clashing designs! This trend is perfect for the winter months - do up your top button and wear a striking collar with confidence.

Purple Perfection

Autumn nights are creeping in. The evening sky is no longer a pallet of burnt orange, crimson and glorious baby blue - instead it's layered in tones of deep purple and musky blue. The same can be said for our A/W wardrobe. Gothic shades embellished the catwalks with the colour purple standing out the most. Forget about winter clothing being 50 shades of grey - It's all about 50 shades of purple (Hah!).


House of Fraser do a pretty lilac dress in a classic shape - fit for a Disney princess! If you want to up the sex appeal - Lipsy has designed a smouldering mini - dress which has vixen written all over it. Wear it to the office with dark tights, a leather jacket and a pair of wedged ankle boots and as soon as the clock strikes 5 - take the tights and jacket off for a fresh evening look. This dress will be sure to get the attention of the hunky bar man you've had your eye on!

Baroque Brigade

The A/W catwalks have taken inspiration from the great queens of the 17th century. The baroque trend first exploded on the runway at Alexander Mcqueen and Balmain and not it's taking over the high street too.Think Downton Abbey but with plenty of swagger.

Dorothy Perkins have interpreted the style in a muted fashion and have given it a Gothic edge. This is the perfect collection if you prefer to keep your winter months dark and stylish.
